Don't miss Betty's tea rooms, artisan breads from local bakeries and one of the many pizzerias for dinner. You can also sample dishes from everywhere including Vietnam and Mexico in the town centre.

Things to do

It's worth checking out some of Harrogate's floral displays, so visit the RHS Harlow Carr Gardens or the Historical Valley Gardens while you're here. For photo opportunities, check out 15th century Ripley Castle, which is open for tours inside and out. Hackfall Woods has its picturesque lakes and waterfalls, while the Scar House Reservoir is striking for its 55-metre height and the ruins of the temporary village that once housed the workers who built it.
