Toulouse is located in the south west of France, close to Spain, the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees mountains. It is home to over a million people and is one of the largest cities in France. It is home to the European space industry and is nicknamed the pink city (la ville rose).

Toulouse is not a large city, although it does have a large international airport. Your accommodation choices vary depending on where you want to visit on your travels. The jewels of food in Toulouse are cassoulet and the famous Toulouse sausage. Many of the regions popular dishes are based around garlic, pork and poultry. The dishes take inspiration from the local and are similar to those found in areas like the Dordogne and the mountain villages of the Pyrenees.

The south west of France is famous for it’s historic villages that are a close drive from the city. Examples include Albi, Carcassonne and Lourdes. Airbus offer tours of their factory and it is also possible to tour Cite de l’Espace (space city). In the city itself the Hôtel d'Assézat, Les Jacobins and Les Abattoirs are all worth a visit.

Toulouse is famous for both it’s rugby and football teams. The football team, Toulouse FC, play at Stade de Toulouse, which seats 38’000 people. The rugby team pay Stade Ernest-Wallon which seats some 19’000 people. In the summer months many of the cities residents head to the mountains to watch the Tour de France cycling competition which traditionally visits the mountain areas to the South of the city.
