In the city itself Passage Pommeraye, Château des Ducs de Bretagne and the Musée Jules Verne all remain popular. There are great number of shopping and eating areas including Place du Commerce and Place du Bouffay. The Ile de Versailles is an island in the River Erdre and it is home to a famous Japanese garden.

The main sport in Nantes in football and it is home to FC Nantes Atlantique. They play at the Stade de La Beaujoire, which can seat 38285 spectators.
