prestige car hire - terms and conditions

In addition to holiday autos standard terms and conditions, the following terms and conditions apply to holiday autos prestige car rentals:

Fuel: a deposit is often payable for fuel and is usually refunded if the car is returned with a full tank. Fuel policies vary. Please check when you pick up your car
Garaging, tolls, congestion charges, parking and traffic fines
Additional drivers charges
Out of hours charges
Optional extras
One-way rental charges where applicable
Young drivers charges where applicable

There is a charge for an additional driver is £15 per day subject to approval by the car hirers insurance company

Min age 25 - 30 depending on vehicle, maximum age 70
All drivers must have held a full licence for a minimum of two years, must have no more than 6 current points on their licence up to 9 points for SP30 or SP50 are permissible subject to approval (similar restrictions apply to all international licenses)
Any convictions for drink or drug driving, dangerous or careless driving within the past 5 years will not be accepted
Overseas licences are accepted subject to the above conditions
Drivers must not have been involved in an accident in the past 3 years and must not have been convicted of motoring offences in categories CU/IN/LC/MS/PC/PL/SP/TS in the last 3 years (UK)

Delivery and collection is free in the Greater London area (including all London airports)
Outside this area, a delivery & collection charge will be applied at £1.00 per mile each way from our London office, which is payable locally.

One way rentals are available on request. Charges apply and will be notified at the time of booking.

An excess will be payable. The amount of the excess will depend on the vehicle
The excess wil be used as a security deposit in respect of:
1. payment towards any mechanical damage which is not covered by the car hirers Insurers, e.g., tyres, wheels, clutch, gearbox, which was sustained during the hire period, excluding normal wear and tear, due to misuse and abuse
2. As an insurance excess against any accidental damage or loss caused to the vehicle by a third party or the hirer in accordance with the Insurance terms previously stated. The hirer is liable for the amount shown as Excess Deposit
3. Additional charges incurred during hire for excess mileage and, or, petrol reimbursement charges

Should the bond (what is this?) not be able to be charged for what ever reason then the hire shall be cancelled and our refund policies shall come into effect.
Our liability is limited to a refund of the hire charge in all cases and subject to our terms and conditions. No consequential loss liability will be covered.
Car hire may be cancelled or re-arranged if:
1. The weather is deemed inclement and there for not suitable for hire by Hire Company, a suitable replacement date will be arranged or your hire refunded in full
2. There is a mechanical breakdown of the car, if this occurs and it is feasible to offer an alternative car for the hire we will do so and will reimburse the cost difference for the hire of the substitute vehicle, should we not have another vehicle available or if you choose to not have the replacement offered we will either re-arrange the hire for another day or reimburse you in full for the cost of the hire, Hire Company accept nor responsibility or liability for cancellations under these conditions
3. Hire Company retains the right to refuse hire of our vehicles to any one they deem unsuitable for hire or whom they feel do not fit the criteria for hire or if the hirers age or licence details do not comply with the terms as set out herein

The hirer may use the vehicle for the purpose of their business and for social domestic and pleasure purposes.
The vehicles may not be used for any purposes for which they are not expressly designed. Further, the hirer will not use or permit the vehicles to be used for hire, driving tuition, towing, racing or pace-making, or for competing in any rally, or any other form of motor sport, track days, or for any illegal purpose whatsoever
Allowing a non insured drive to drive the vehicle will result in the loss of your excess deposit, our supplier will also view this as theft of the vehicle and will prosecute with out exception in all cases as theft

You will be provided with a full tank of fuel and the vehicle must be returned with a full tank. If, however, this is not the case any reimbursement for fuel will be charged at the pump price, plus £10* administration charge

Please note none of the cars may be taken out of the UK with out hire companies express written permission. Ireland (Eire) is not part of the UK, cars are also excluded from Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Wight unless by prior arrangement

Returning the car late will incur a cost of £50 per half hour or part thereof without exception

ORIGINALS ONLY of Driving licence and counter part section need to be provided to Hire Company before hire can commence for all named drivers, also Photo Id in the form of a Passport and a utility bill or credit card statement must also be produced as confirmation of ID photocopies are acceptable BUT the originals must be produced on the day of hire, failure to do so would cancel the hire. If upon delivery these documents have not been received or viewed by Hire Company the hire will be cancelled and our cancellation policy will apply

All damage to the cars whilst in the custody of the hirer how ever they arise will be the responsibility of the hirer and Hire Company will charge for the cost of the repairs against the Excess Deposit held against the hire up to the value of the excess deposit, if requested Hire Company will provide a quotation for the works from an authorised repair specialist
Any excess wear to the cars tyres will be charged at a pro rata rate for the cost of replacing the tyres, Hire Company will provide details of these Charges should they apply, these charges also extend to unreasonable wear and tear on any other part of the car. Vehicles are only fully inspected once returned to our premises, this is due to dirty vehicles / bad light which hamper a full inspection at the clients address, any damage discovered once we have cleaned the vehicle will then be charged, Hire Company are not limited to noting the damage at the time of pick up of the vehicle for the reasons set out in this clause

Smoking is expressly forbidden and will result in the loss of your deposit. Our rental partner uses a machine to determine this and if the vehicle if the car has been smoked in

The driver / hirer of the vehicle will be liable for all speeding fines and or parking tickets or any other costs or penalties that may be incurred during the rental period
