be carbonwise with holiday autos
what is offsetting?
When you fly, drive and heat your home, your carbon dioxide (C02) emissions cause climate change. Climate change is the most serious threat facing the planet.
Offsetting enables you to repair the damage done by your emissions by funding sustainable energy projects that reduce C02.
You can offset easily with holiday autos every time you rent a car. Use our online calculator to work out just how much C02 you will emit. Each time you book your car hire with holiday autos, you will have an opportunity to offset your car hire emission.
why offset?
For every 400 miles we drive in an economy sized car, each of us produces about 0.1 tonnes of C02. For example, driving from London to Glasgow you will travel about 400 miles - that's the same as:
- Leaving the hairdryer on for one month, or
- Boiling the kettle non-stop for four weeks, or
- Running the TV & games console for one year, or
- Leaving the TV on standby for 35 years, or
- Running the car for 10 days and nine nights, or
- Leaving all the lights on at home for three months
Multiply that by hundreds of people driving in and out of all the cities in every country around the world, every week, every day, every hour, every minute... you get the picture! That's a lot of C02 pouring into our atmosphere.
where does the money go?
Your money goes to Climate Care, an organisation dedicated to reducing global warming. They fund projects that cut greenhouse gas emissions in developing countries, benefiting local communities.
how much does it cost to offset?
We have calculated that the cost to offset carbon emissions in relation to car hire is between 19p-56p for every 100 miles driven, depending on the size of the car rented. Our carbonwise scheme requires a minimum offset contribution of £2 payable, but you are free to contribute as much as you would like.
Offset your carbon emissions from your car hire booking now!
Please make sure you have read and understood the terms and conditions for our carbonwise scheme.
Climate Care take their emission calculations from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) based on their 'Guidelines to Defra's GHG conversion factors for company reporting - 2007' .
Be carbonwise – offset every time you drive.
